Me
I'm slowly working out how to use Photoshop.  At long last.  Considering it's a present at least one year old.  Also, for some reason my 'q' key keeps pressing itself without me going near it.  But that's beside the point.

Yes.  Christmas always makes me feel arty.  Somehow.  So I've been having great fun making pretty pencil sketches of my imaginary band (don't ask) and then ruining them by scanning them into Photoshop and trying to colour them with my rudimentary skills and laptop mouse.  It's all good.  I think it's all an attempt to put off having to write a short story in which one of them attempts to commit suicide again, because I don't think I can pull it off.

Although I have been told that I'm much better at writing angsty characters than anything else...  (Thank you [info]cartoir .)  Joys.

Finally -- my iPod is amazing.  If its battery isn't completely destroyed through overuse before the end of January I shall be surprised.  It's so pretty!  And t'will get prettier; have just ordered my birthday present: a nice skin for it.  *snuggles iPod*

...

I'll stop now.

Indy 4 (spoilers for Tintin, mostly... o_0) )

Everyone loves the traditional boxing day film (and the angry comments coming three days late...)  Otherwise, Christmas progresseth apace.  We have nearly 20 people around at the moment, which is ridiculous.  Lots of good food, though, so all is well. (I suggested to my stepmum that they change jobs and offer to cater for an army battalion.  They thought I was joking.)

Next year, I shall do what I always do, and expect Christmas Day to be as dull as usual, and thus be pleasantly surprised when it turns out to be good fun.  Not that it wasn't good fun this year, just slightly quiet.  I got 6 books (Murakami <3) and 1 CD (Freezepop!) and the traditional Ted Baker stuff from one of my uncles which I shall never use, just as I haven't used it either of the last two times they sent me some.  Ah well.

And now we have come to my Dad's, where I have pretty T-shirts and some other stuff and AWESOMENESS OF AWESOMENESS an almighty iPod of doom, which it will take me years and much more Christmas money than I have to fill up.  So I had better get to work.

Also, Dr Who was OK.  But I still can't wait for RTD to go.

Ingloomy Christmas!

  • Dec. 24th, 2008 at 9:30 PM
Me
If Christmas Day proves to anywhere near as good as Christmas Eve, it may actually be too enjoyable for the human brain to comprehend.  Explanation: friend I though hated me has proved me once again to be a fool who makes absurd assumptions, another friend has managed to get into the same university & college as me, which is both cool and bizarre, seeing as we went to playgroup together, I had lunch with yet another friend (reality check -- a friend who lives closer than 100 miles and is in my year?  How?) and life is generally well and happy otherwise.  So that's good.

And now I'm exhausted.  Sometime I will tell you how great the film of V for Vendetta is, but not right now.

Have an ingloomy Christmas!

Me
Everyone loves tacky free themes in return for a journal which is free and without advertisements.  So please forgive me ^^  Sometime I shall have a really good look through all the free ones and pick the very nicest, but I doubt I'll ever have the time.

Anyways.  I suddenly feel the need to journalise for a bit; I don't know how long the urge'll last, so don't hold your breath.  Maybe it's because it's the holidays, and interesting things happen in the holidays (or, at least, boring things -don't- ).  That said, I can't immediately think of anything earth-shatteringly interesting that's happened to me recently.  Only little things.

Like, I've become slightly obsessed with a remix of t.A.T.u.'s Белый Плащик for some reason.  I need to get it from somewhere, seeing as the only way I can listen to it is by playing the tiny video they have somewhere on their site, but I think that'll cost quite a lot.  Another shipping-it-from-Russia job.  So that's where any Christmas money I get will be going...  It seems to be a good week for obsession: I've worn my hoodie every day since I got it middle of last week.  I'm not even going to say why I have a hoodie, nor why it reads "Monkey" on the back, but it's comfy, which suits me.

If anything else worth mentioning happens, I'll be sure to post... He says.

Perhaps I should stop abusing this poor bit of webspace and either use it properly or admit to never going to use it again.  Or not.

Weirdness just happened...

I sent two texts.  The cunning plan (for various reasons) was to send them about two minutes apart.  So I duly sent one, waited about two minutes, and sent the next one.

Only to discover that they were sent two minutes apart to the second.

This scares me.

Rule of funky part characters.

As in: why are the cool ones with gloves always more interesting than the main characters?  I'm thinking Clive Owen in the Bourne Identity (never thought I'd like him as an actor...  After King Arthur) and Matt in Death Note.  Odd, isn't it?  Bet they wouldn't be nearly so cool if they had the whole show to themselves.

Anyhow.  Holiday in Scotland great fun.  Nuff said.

God, TV marathons are so incredibly unhealthy...  We spent today watching the whole of Dr Who series 1.  IT IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.  Rewatching it, there wasn't a single episode which was a letdown - or even bad.  It was perfect.  Christopher Eccleston is by far and away the best doctor I've ever seen, and there was no need to criticise Billie Piper's acting.  This time round.  (She's awful in the fourth series, I think.  But wonderful here.)  PERFECT.

It's RTD's insistence on showing off his continuity that ruins it.  His need to constantly bring back characters that worked, like Jack, Martha, Harriet Jones - they all worked as one-offs.  But when they gather round the TARDIS console and cheesily high-five while each holding down a lever, it just ruins them.  Not to mention that trying to lever characters into the script regularly produces rubbish episodes.
It's not like RTD can't invent good characters, but he seems to feel he has to use characters that have worked in the past instead of coming up with more suitable ones.  And WHY do they have to keep bringing the Daleks back?  Time after time?  So they're the most famous Dr Who villain.  So?  The problem was, having technically killed them all off before the series began, you can't bring them back too many times before it gets predictable.  Once (Dalek) was shocking.  Twice (Bad Wolf) worked well, because they appeared in a completely different scenario.  Adnt then they appeared in it again.  And again.  And again.  Having supposedly been killed off each time...  Just boring.  Give up.

Rant over,  Sorry about that.  Had to get it off my chest.
